Kaelah Blades is 14 years old. Though she was raised NYC, her family is from Trinidad and Tobago. Kaelah is a sophomore at BCS and this is her second year at GWN.  She views writing as her best friend, and loves to write mysteries and science fiction stories. Kaelah is currently developing a story into her first novel. She is very excited for her second year of GWN!

Kara Rota is an Editor at Macmillan Publishers/Flatiron Books, focusing on cookbooks and other non-fiction, especially around themes of feminism and social justice. She hosts the weekly Clever Cookstr podcast on Macmillan's Quick and Dirty Tips network. Kara lives in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, and this is her second year as a Girls Write Now mentor.
